Join us for a double bill of melodramas from different styles and eras. "East Lynne" is an adaptation of the classic sensation novel of 1861, while the "The Terror of London" is based on real-life events that took place in 1839.
THE TERROR OF LONDON
– written & directed by Zachariah Chamberlaine
London, 1839. A new Queen has just ascended the throne. The future looks bright … and yet the city is in the grip of panic and hysteria, as a mysterious monster prowls the streets, scaring ladies out of their wits. And worse. Who is he? What does he want? Is it all just a lark or does he have an ulterior motive?
Based on real-life events, this play asks the question: Spring-heeled Jack – myth, monster or prankster?

Ms Ursula Ingleton – Maria Holopainen
Captain Rupert Culpepper – Tomas Palomäki

EAST LYNNE
– written by Ellen Wood, writing as Mrs Henry Wood

"East Lynne" is a wrenching Victorian melodrama of love, jealousy, and tragic redemption. The fragrant Isabel - lady of the manor - is undone by the dastardly Captain Francis Levison - cad, bounder, and ebsolute rotter!
Gossip, betrayal, and political rivalries escalate, forcing a shocking denouement: will the longsuffering husband forgive and forget? Will the wicked Captain Levison get his comeuppance? And what exactly is the relationship between the sister and the maid?
You will boo, you will cry, there won't be a dry seat in the house.
