A Reading Circle: The Executive Summary of the TRC Report
About this Event
From 2010 to 2015, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission listened to and documented the experiences of survivors, families, communities and anyone personally affected by the Indian Residential School Experience. In June 2015 they published their final report, which outlined 94 Calls to Action for Canadians. This is an opportunity for folks to continue the climb up Reconciliation Mountain.
Over five sessions, we will read together and discuss the Executive Summary of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission: Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future.
The first session is on Tuesday, September 8 with the remaining Circles on October 13, November 10, December 8 and January 12. The Reading Circle will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Kelowna Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library (1380 Ellis Street). Sandwiches will be provided.
Pre-registration is required by September 3. Once you register, arrangements will be made for you to pick up a copy of the Executive Summary.
If you have any questions, please contact Debbie Hubbard at [email protected] This Reading Circle is hosted by Metis Community Services Society of BC with the support of the City of Kelowna:Cultural Services and Okanagan Regional Library: Kelowna Branch.
