Join photographer Tony Gangemi on June 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitefish Community Center for a special free presentation. Tony will share his documented story of a leucistic Common Loon, following its remarkable journey from its first days as a “little cotton ball” through its first flight.Leucism is a rare genetic condition that causes a partial loss of pigmentation, resulting in unusually pale or white coloration while still retaining normal eye color.
In addition to the presentation, Tony will be displaying photography, discussing equipment and techniques, and answering questions from attendees. This unique event offers an opportunity to learn more about wildlife photography, bird behavior, and the fascinating life of this rare loon.
Tony Gangemi Bio:
Tony Gangemi lives in Whitefish, Montana, near Glacier National Park with his wife, Dabney, surrounded by an abundance of national forest and public lands that provide endless inspiration for his photography. Over the course of nearly four decades behind the camera, Tony has photographed a wide variety of subjects, though for the last seven years his focus has turned primarily to birds, with birds of prey presenting a particularly intriguing and rewarding challenge. He spends much of his free time outdoors capturing unique images of wildlife and landscapes. His work has been published by the National Audubon Society and Outside Magazine.
