Adrian loves nothing more than books and knowledge—until meeting Emelia at a glittering party. Emelia is bright, joyful, and magnetic. Their connection is immediate and unmistakable, a meeting of minds and spirits that shifts Adrian’s carefully ordered world. From the shadows, Lowri watches, quietly waiting for her own chance to step closer to Adrian. Stepping away from the party, Adrian and Emelia wander into a magical garden filled with playful flowers, mischievous spirits, hardworking gardeners, and glowing lamplighters. It is a place full of movement and imagination. When Adrian is called back inside, Emelia stays behind beneath the balcony’s shadow. Moments later, Adrian returns to find Emelia fallen and lifeless.
