Join Socialist Alternative on the 27th of February for a special political forum to discuss the monumental events of the Russian Revolution of 1917.The Russian Revolution marked the first time that workers and the oppressed liberated themselves not only of Tsarist autocracy, but replaced the ruling capitalist class with entirely new democratic structures of workers' power known as soviets.
To many people, the 1917 revolution is the most controversial event in history - a mainstream account of events tells the story of an undemocratic coup led by a dictator called Lenin. In reality, the 1917 revolution is one of the most inspiring events in history, offering a precious glimpse into the possibility of overthrowing world capitalism - a system which has only become more barbaric and unequal in the century since.
