A-NOT-So-Holiday Concert

Join the SWE and conductor George Osorio for a concert full of holiday classics, featuring Leroy Anderson's most popular works- Sleigh Ride, A Christmas Festival, and Bugler's Holiday. Also on the program is Reisteter's The Eighth Candle, highlighting Hanukkah-like themes set in unusual meters. Ending the first half of the program features James Alvarez as the solo trumpet and arranger of Pakhmutova's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, a piece that has undergon a few changes since its composition in 1955.

The second half starts off with Norman Dello Joio's Variants on a Medieval Tune, introducing In Dulci Jubilo (in sweet rejoicing) and its numerous variations. Kyle Lesh returns as the soprano saxophone soloist in Wilcher's Villain as Hero, which follows the soloist as the hero saving the world from chaos! Anderson's A Christmas Festival continues to herald the holiday season and our three solo cornetists will end our program with Bugler's Holiday!
