A Night of Poetry with 'All of Us' at Abbi's Teas & Things

What does it mean to be 'IndigenoUS'? This is the question my friend & mentor Gray Parsons is always posing - always with a wise word to follow. Over the last several years, I have been attending our local powwow and Indigenous conference, In The Spirit of Wingina which are held each spring. To say this group has changed me would be an understatement. From new found friendships, connecting with fellow creative spirits & finding deeper understanding of who I am as a human being - these are just a few of the amazing experiences to have come into my life in simply showing up to these events over the years.
I am very proud & honored to host my friends at the shop in November for a night of poetry & tea. 'All of Us' is a series of events showcasing the diversity, history & truth of the Outer Banks. I will be offering a tea tasting of 4 different locally harvested & blended loose leaf teas including 2 very special blends that were made to showcase the bounty of our local land for The Secotan Alliance & Beyond Pea Island.
Special Words & Poetry will be offered by Gray Parsons of @secotanalliance, Joan Collins of @beyondpeaisland1947, and Adonis Osekre author of Windswept Dreams.
Teas on Tap for the event:
🪶 In The Spirit of Wingina (strawberry yaupon)
🍇 The Mother Vine (muscadine & scuppernong)
🍐 Marshall & Gussie's Heritage Blend (a bounty from the Collins Family land)
🏝 The Outer Banks Chai (peach & fig yaupon)
🗓 November 16th @ 6:30pm
📍 Located at Abbi's Teas & Things, downstairs at Jockey's Ridge Crossing in Nags Head, North Carolina
🎭 In partnership with Dare Arts, North Carolina Arts Council, The Secotan Alliance & Beyond Pea Island.
I hope you will join 'All of Us' as we celebrate a rich history of friendship, poetry, wisdom & a celebration of what it means to live in communi-tea! 🌿
