As part of our ongoing series of events in historic places across the Midwest, we're bringing the acclaimed Kate Hinote Trio to the Old Town Hall in downtown Ortonville for an intimate listening-room performance.
Built in 1872, the Old Town Hall has stood at the center of community life in Ortonville for more than 150 years. Originally serving as a civic gathering place and government building, it remains one of the village's most recognizable historic landmarks. Generations of residents have gathered here for meetings, celebrations, and community events. On June 27, it will once again become a place where people come together—this time through the shared experience of live music.
Founded around a grist mill in the mid-1800s, Ortonville has long been a town shaped by stories, hard work, and community. Echoes In The Iron exists to celebrate those same qualities by bringing exceptional musicians into meaningful places and creating experiences that connect people to both music and place.
About The Kate Hinote Trio
The Kate Hinote Trio is a contemporary and distinctive alt-folk ensemble featuring Kate Hinote on vocals, Matthew Parmenter on violin, and David Johnson on acoustic guitar.
Known for the melodic interplay between voice and violin, along with dynamic and engaging indie-folk arrangements, the trio performs primarily original music while weaving in a select collection of retro and modern covers reimagined through their unique sound. Their sophomore album, Stowaways (released June 2025), showcases ten original songs built around narrative-driven songwriting and reflects the signature style they have been refining through more than six years of live performances.
