A Night at the Opera – Behind the Scenes at Scottish Opera

Loud & Clear and Scottish Opera invite music lovers to step beyond the stage at Theatre Royal Glasgow on Thursday 29th October for an exclusive evening combining exceptional sound, an insight into the voice and art of opera and rare backstage access. This special evening is part of a series of events hosted by Loud & Clear to mark its 30th anniversary.

Guests will be welcomed by the teams from Loud & Clear and Scottish Opera for an evening in three parts with music chosen by Stuart Stratford, Scottish Opera’s Music Director, presented on a reference hi-fi system, exploring what it takes to capture the dyamic range of a live performance. There will be an exploration with an opera singer on what makes the operatic voice so unique and a peek behind the curtain to discover some of the Theatre Royal Glasgow’s hidden spaces and stories.

Originally opened in 1867, the magnificent 1500 seat auditorium is full of Victorian splendour. The tour takes in the stage wings and orchestra pit with stories along the way of how an opera goes from page to stage.

An evening of exceptional music, fascinating theatre history and unique backstage access awaits.
