With the help of a map and a collection of dozens of authentic musical instruments, Sones de México Ensemble will take you on a musical journey through various cultural regions of Mexico presenting Aztec dance, norteña music, and each of the eight Mexican sones (or song styles) son abajeño, son planeco, son de mariachi, son de tarima, son istmeño, son de marimba, son jarocho, and other styles of traditional music with instruments, dance, repertoire and techniques rarely seen outside their regions.FREE ADMISSION
Sones de México Ensemble is the country’s premier folk music organization specializing in Mexican ‘son’, including the regional styles of huapango, gustos, chilenas, son jarocho, and more. They are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote greater appreciation of Mexican folk and traditional music and culture through innovative performance, education, and dissemination.
