About this Event
Join us as owner Mike Adams takes us on a tour of this gorgeous Preserve.
According to the St. Augustine Record, what makes these 94 privately-held acres special is the variety of natural habitats and ecosystems they contain, the names of which read like poetry: riverine grassbeds, hardwood swamp, silverculture, cypress domes and pine hammocks. The river and its shoreline are watched over by Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Belted Kingfishers and Brown Pelicans.

While the trip is free, there is a suggested donation of $10 for the Preserve.
The Preserve derives its name from Indian chief, Saturiwa. Our Bird Walk Leader will be Michael Adams, who created, owns, and manages the Conservation Area. Mike is a biologist, educator, and researcher and also one of the past presidents of the SJCA. This trip is sure to be a wonderful experience!
To find the Saturiwa Conservation Area, follow SR 207 south; turn north on CR 305; go about 6 miles and turn north (right) on CR 13 South; go 2 miles and entrance road is on the left (river side.) Look for the sign and orange cone; we will park up near Mike's house on the property.
Bring bug spray, sunscreen, water, and a hat. Also wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots.
We encourage you to consider joining the SJRA. You can join for as little as $15/year, which will help us continue and expand our work. To join the SJRA, follow this link.
