We’re excited to announce that in our 2024/25 season we’re taking on one of Shakespeare’s most beloved plays: A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the 4th time (what can we say – it’s a gem and we love it). Touring across Cornwall in March 2025 this dynamic, upbeat and quirky retelling of a time-honoured classic will bring laughter, comedy and magic to venues across Cornwall. Our talented troupe of young actors will not fail to impress audiences with this version of the classic tale of love, magic, misunderstanding and mischief.
In Midsummer Night’s Dream expect a Duke and Duchess about to be married, an angry fairy King and his disobedient Queen, four frustrated human lovers and six terrible actors trying to put on a play in an enchanted forest.
“Four days will quickly steep themselves in night; Four nights will quickly dream away the time; And then the moon, like to a silver bow. New-bent in heaven, shall behold the night of our solemnities.”
2024 is Cornwall Youth Theatre Company’s 40th anniversary year. Since 1984 the company have worked with thousands of young people from across Cornwall, performing hundreds of plays. This year, at the request of the company, we are taking on one of Shakespeare’s most treasured plays. Previous Shakespeare plays we’ve performed are Twelfth Night and the Scottish Play, as well as A Midsummers Night’s Dream on three other occasions. We’re excited to perform our version of this iconic piece at venues across Cornwall in Spring 2025.
