Join Stockton native and author Yia Vang for Writing Between Worlds, a talk exploring how language, story, and identity intersect in the act of writing. Drawing from her memoir In Yer’s Kitchen: Memoir of a Hmong Daughter, Yia reflects on what it means to write from a native lens within the English language — how culture, rhythm, and memory live inside words that English alone can’t fully contain.

Through personal stories and conversation, Yia sheds light on the gifts of writing in a second language, how it allows others to step into your world, to experience the textures and meanings that live beyond translation. A Q&A and book signing will follow.
