About this Event
Conceived, written and composed by Damon Banks, “A Maroon Tale” follows the life of Kofi, a West African teen who survives the infamous trans-Atlantic slave trade, revolts, escapes, then lives the rest of his life in the hills of a Caribbean island. His contemporary alter ego "Kofi Osborne" experiences a parallel experience navigating the mass incarceration initiative, and the American criminal justice system.
Damon will be joined by a super-talented cast of fellow musicians, narrator, dancer and visual artist.
This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
Gwen Laster's outstanding " New Muse4Tet" (2024 Chamber Music America Performance Plus Grant recipient) will perform a set of new compositions at 6 PM.
