Civil War living history is BACK at the Baker Mansion!Join us on Sunday, August 24 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM for our Civil War living history day titled "A Mansion Divided: The Baker Family and Blair County in the Civil War." At this event, guests will be able to explore the grounds of the Baker Mansion and learn about our area's many connections to the Civil War from living historians/reenactors that will be on-site.
Visitors will be able to talk with members of the Baker family who resided within the mansion during the war, as well as meet local soldiers who came together to defend Blair County against a potential Confederate invasion in 1863. Additionally, pop-up exhibits featuring rare artifacts and stories from the Civil War will be featured outside around the mansion.
Last but not least, guests will also be treated to some music from the Civil War era courtesy of the 46th PA Regiment Band! The music will begin that afternoon at 2:00 PM.
This event is FREE and open to the public, but regular admission rates for tours of the Baker Mansion will remain that day. If you have any questions, please call us at 814-942-3916 or send us an email at [email protected].
