In a world of high tempos, faced-paced living and instant gratification, the need for pockets of unhurried sound in relaxed environments has become a necessity.
A Love From Outer Kingsland aspires to pay homage to Sean Johnston and the late, great Andrew Weatherall. Their club night and mix series, A Love From Outer Space showcased their passion for the slower sound, slinging “slow building atmospherics and a sense of graceful, determined sleaze”, ALFOS has garnered a cult following around the world.
In the heart of bustling Kingsland is an oasis of shady greenery tucked neatly into an unassuming corner of New North Road. Providing a variety of delicious refreshments and an atmosphere of relaxed contentment to accompany your journey into sound, this is the place to be on 19 October. Join us for a Sunday session that will allow you to cast off the hurriedness of city life and slink into a leisurely afternoon of sonic beatitude in one of Auckland’s best kept secrets. We’re here to wind you down, not up.
Takas is a master of his craft. Based in Wellington he’s supported the heftiest of internationals and held down residencies at some of Wellington’s most well known bars and clubs. A regular on the Splore lineup, he’s able to switch between genres like he’s spreading butter on toast. As a long time fan of ALFOK, we knew we needed to get him up to be a part of this summer series, we are stoked he’s agreed.
Amandamania is not just The Mother of Splore, she’s also a breath work specialist, a QiGong master and an extremely accomplished DJ who has an ear for stunning sound that just makes you want to move. With decades of experience around the world under her belt and just back from 6 months of travelling the globe, we are over the moon to have her talent on the bill
Cyril Orson has spent most of his life dedicated to incredible sound with a career that spans decades and has taken him around the world. You’re just as likely to catch him laying prime-time techno as you are to see him slink into the deep and dusty sounds of summer. Cyril is a world class act, and the anchor for this event.
A Love From Outer Kingsland is a free event, we would love for you join us from 2pm and help us kick off this series in style. We can’t wait to share this afternoon with you all.
