A Celebration of the Montana Territory
Step back in time into the world that shaped the American West Montana Territory at
the 2nd U.S. Cavalry Association invites you to a vivid, hands‑on journey through the Montana Territory’s most defining years—from the Louisiana Purchase to the dawn of statehood. This years events will be held at:
The Lewis and Clark Fairgrounds Multipurpose Building in Helena on August 29th and 30th from 9:00 to 5:00
Visitors will experience: an interpretive program honoring the complex and compelling history of the Montana Territory from the Louisiana Purchase through the threshold of statehood.
This year’s events will feature:
• Historically accurate portrayals of military life and civilian life on the frontier
• Demonstrations of 19th‑century equipment daily routines
• Educational presentations exploring exploration, settlement,
• Interpretive narratives highlighting the diverse communities who shaped the region, including Indigenous nations, traders, miners, homesteaders, and soldiers
Join us as we bring the Territory’s past to life with accuracy, respect, and immersive storytelling. Whether you are a lifelong Montanan or discovering this history for the first time, this celebration offers a rare chance to walk through the events that forged the Treasure State.
