The Office of Catechetics Presents: A Lenten Morning of Reflection: Praying through the Eyes of the Saints – Featuring Father John Dugas – Priest of the Diocese of Lafayette. – Saturday, February 21, 2026 – 8:30 AM – 12:00PM. (3 Ongoing Formation Hours for Catholic School Teachers approved by Anna Larriviere, Superintendent of Catholic Schools)In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus was asked by the Apostles to teach them how to pray. Our Lord responded by teaching them the Our Father and then repeatedly modeled in his public ministry that verbal prayer alone wasn’t enough to enter into full union with God the Father. Jesus would often find solitude and silence for long hours of prayer to commune with the Father, even praying through the night, as recorded in St. Luke’s Gospel. This is the model he left for every Christian to follow in their personal prayer life in pursuit of sanctification within their union with Him. Father John Dugas, parochial vicar at St. Anthony of Padua in Eunice, will lead a Lenten morning of reflection on the necessity of mental prayer in every Christian’s life and provide a practical guide of how to engage in that process in one’s daily life through the eyes of St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Theresa of Avila, and St. Francis de Sales for those in attendance. We hope to see you there.
