Vickie Sakurada Schaepler and Diane Sakurada Mercer will present A Legacy Saved: Japanese Immigrants of the North Platte Valley and the impact of WWII on Saturday, March 29 at 2:00 pm in the Lied Scottsbluff Public Library Community Room. This program is free and open to all.Schaepler and Mercer are with the Japanese Hall and History project at the Legacy of the Plains Museum where they lead efforts to preserve the history of the Japanese on the High Plains and Nebraska. They will share information about Japanese immigrants in the North Platte Valley, Nebraska’s role during World War II helping people out of the camps, and those who served with distinction with the United States Armed Forces.
This program is supported by a grant from the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation.
