About this Event
Celebrate the opening of our newest exhibition, A League of Our Own, at this free, family-friendly event. Enjoy complimentary refreshments, explore the exhibition, and meet the student curators behind the project. The exhibition will officially open with remarks from Councillor Dasko at 11:30am.
Sport plays a vital role in connecting people and communities in Mississauga, unifying a diverse population by turning play into a shared sense of belonging. A League of Our Own celebrates team sports and shares the stories of local athletes and coaches. This exhibition will be on display at the Museums of Mississauga’s Adamson Estate from April 23rd to September 6th. It is a chance to experience a variety of artifacts tied to Mississauga’s sporting history, including sports uniforms, and Rikén:å - Little Brother – a unique art piece which embodies the lived experiences of a Mohawk lacrosse athlete. Through interactive experiences, visitors are invited to be a part of the action and reflect on their own memories involving sport.
A League of Our Own was developed by Randa Bustami, Emily Owen, Portia Piasentin, and Ankush Sood as part of the Faculty of Information’s Museum Studies Capstone Projects course, in consultation with Dr. Irina D. Mihalache
