Submission of Prints for the Internal Competition Pets
Born in England, Gary Hampton spent 15 years in France before basing himself in New Delhi, India in 2004 and Kathmandu, Nepal in 2011. After working as a clinical pharmacologist in the pharmaceutical industry for 15 years, he decided to become a photojournalist.
Drawing on his substantial knowledge and experience of medicine and clinical research, he decided to dedicate his career to documenting the state of the world’s health, in particular “rare” and “forgotten” diseases in the developing world. He is also engaged in documenting the people who are fighting for recognition and new treatments for these diseases.
He has worked in England, France, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Nepal, Indonesia, South Africa, Malawi, Botswana, Uganda, and Zambia.
His work has been published in Time magazine, New York Times, Le Monde, Science magazine, and many other publications. He works regularly with International NGOs and his photos are held in the WHO Image Library.
