Bringing to life real historical women—from an African Queen to Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Rosa Parks—through song, movement, and dialogue. In honor of Black History Month, City of Norwalk in partnership with DOLO Foundation will host A JOURNEY on February 28, celebrating the resilience and contributions of Black women throughout history. The performance will be followed by an audience talk-back, providing an opportunity for reflection and shared storytelling. Before the show, guests can explore a variety of businesses and organizations in the City Hall Rotunda that uplift and support the community.
Kimberly Wilson, a Minneapolis native, has built a dynamic career in theater, film, and touring productions. Her award-winning A JOURNEY Musical One-Woman Show has toured nationwide since 2012. In 2016, she won Best Playwright at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival for her performance.

Testimonials:
“Every now and then the tears returned. It kills me to hear how awful we have been to each other... It is amazing how people can be so good and so awful. As some fight so valiantly for rights others fight just as hard to keep them down. It's maddening. And the longer I live, and the more I learn, it seems that's the way it is – as many people fight for good an equal amount are fighting for bad..”. -Audience Feedback / Norwalk, CT
"A JOURNEY…" may be a one-woman show, but when Kimberly Wilson brings history's most prominent black women to life on stage, the audience might be convinced otherwise. By performing "A JOURNEY…," Wilson wants the audience to "feel safe telling their own stories." And, at the conclusion of the show, they will be invited to do just that.” -Scott G. / Connecticut Post / Connecticut
“It's been a week since your a JOURNEY presentation...it is still with me....in part, the stories, in part, the songs, in part, the voices...in its entirety, it gave me a slight line into struggles that have not been mine & in which so much of this country's psyche resides...I was honored to be there and I thank you for opening my thoughts and increasing my sensitivities.” Peter D. / Westport, CT
