A visionary of Napa Valley with a legacy of extraordinary quality. This 4th of July, we pour four wines side by side: two vintages of Insignia, two vintages of their estate Cabernet Sauvignon, in an intimate tasting hosted by Emilie Steckenborn of Moët Hennessy Wine Estates.

Insignia, California's first proprietary red Bordeaux-style blend, has earned four perfect 100-point scores from Wine Advocate since its debut in 1974. Three generations later, that pursuit of excellence continues.

The Wines

Joseph Phelps Insignia 2022 | Napa Valley

Dark berry compote, allspice, roasted espresso and herbes de Provence. Firm yet refined tannins and a contemplative, lingering finish.

Joseph Phelps Insignia 2019 | Napa Valley

Red fruit, crème de cassis, leafy tobacco and dried rose petals. Juicy and dense with layers of blackberry, black currant and dark chocolate.

Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 | Napa Valley

Black cherry, pomegranate and bright cassis with cedar spice. Full-bodied with well-integrated tannins. Power and finesse in equal measure.

Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 | Napa Valley

Floral notes, cedar and pencil shavings followed by ripe blackberry, cassis and red currant jam. Fresh and focused with a lingering finish.
