In 1930 Scotland sent a team of 19 athletes to Hamilton, Canada, to compete in the first British Empire Games. In 2026 Scotland will be represented by over 170 competitors at the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The University of Stirling is the home of the Commonwealth Games Scotland Archive which preserves a detailed record of almost a century of sporting competition.
