From its ancient roots in Ethiopia to its modern-day presence in our lives, this course offers a comprehensive look at the evolving relationship between coffee and the world. The class will begin with the discovery of coffee and its impact on the communities who first used it, touching on traditions, beliefs, and the many hands which brewed it far before it came into colonist hands and markets. From there the conversations shift to its rise in Europe then to coffee's inevitable presence in the Americas whilst exploring the historical ties between coffee and colonization as it spread across the planet. This class delves into the global significance of coffee today while unraveling its intricate past. The purpose of this class is to have a conversation and a moment to truly unveil the story behind one of the world's most mysterious yet beloved beverages.
