About this Event
A Historical Tribute to Connecticut’s Two Great Female Governors: Jodi Rell and Ella Grasso
To Commemorate Women’s History Month, Dr. Darla Shaw, Ridgefield resident and “retired” women’s studies professor at Western Connecticut State University, will pay tribute to Connecticut’s two women governors on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at 2pm at the Ridgefield Historical Society at 4 Sunset Lane in Ridgefield, CT. Since parking and seating is limited at the Scott House, registration is required here for this presentation.
Dr. Darla Shaw will take on the role of Governor Ella Grasso (1975-80) talking about her rise from a child of poor immigrant parents to the first woman governor in the country (in her own right, not succeeding a spouse). Dr. Shaw will also pay tribute to Governor Jodi Rell (2004-11) who lived in nearby Brookfield and passed recently. The stories of these two women show that anything is possible if you have the right attitude and work hard enough. Anyone with personal stories of either woman is welcome to share them at the presentation.
Contact the Ridgefield Historical Society for additional information: [email protected] or 203-438-5821.
