Life is hard enough without having to think about the dying part too. Especially when you’ve seen how badly things can be handled. Want to make sure your fate doesn’t end up as frightful or fumbled as some of the things you’ve experienced around death?

Join and for A Hater’s Guide to Funerals—a frank, funny, and freeing evening where we stop being polite and start getting real about the end of life.

This is an opportunity to get things off your chest–what you’ve seen, what you’ve hated, and what you definitely don’t want for your own final gathering.

We’ll start by airing our funeral grievances:

Nothing is too petty or too serious. Vent it. Get it out. Let it go.

Once we’re able to purge all of that, we’ll shift gears and start focusing on the things that we wouldn’t totally hate once it comes time to plan our end-of-life.

This is your time to define it. Even if you’re not entirely sure what you do want for your funeral yet, this at least can help you decide what you definitely don’t want.

We’ll close the evening around a bonfire (weather permitting), symbolically burning the things we don’t want and holding on to what matters most. You’ll leave with tools to communicate your wishes clearly, and something tangible to guide your people when the time comes.

• Sliding scale: $10–$25 (covers materials + snacks); no one turned away for lack of funds
