An iconic name in dance music, A Guy Called Gerald stands out for consistent innovation, excellence and refusal to compromise. A Guy Called Gerald kick started Europe’s acid house frenzy releasing the first UK acid house record, the ’88 classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and 'Pacific State' and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle / drum n bass. Gerald Rydel Simpson, better known as A Guy Called Gerald, is a British record producer and musician. He was an early member of the electronic group 808 State, contributing to their debut LP Newbuild (1988) and hit single "Pacific State" (1989).
Engrained in all house music enthusiasts inner-workings, Voodoo Ray still sounds as fresh as the day it was made. A Manchester native and one of the founding fathers of acid house, A Guy Called Gerald is the genre-shattering, psyche-busting, peak-time hero of the UK house music scene. Decades later, he's still trailblazing with nothing to lose – remaining at the top of his game whilst spreading the seed of his 'True School' manifesto. Inspired by artists as far and wide as Arthur Russell to Armando; the sound of his original productions, as well as his work in 808 State, have shaped dance music as we know it.

Live In Session is "a new way to present the music live based around the idea of being in the centre of the dancefloor and at eye level... I am looking to create a space which mimics the studio environment – not only that – because I would be in the centre of the dancefloor so I can monitor everything around me and be at the same level – eye-level with the presumed dancer. This way it makes it easy for me to create the atmosphere and the rhythm suitable for the individual dancefloor. Kind of like an open kitchen in a restaurant – it’s an open kitchen in a club bringing the food to the people instantly – as soon as it’s produced it’s already on the dancefloor.

Anh là người châm ngòi cho cơn sốt acid house tại châu Âu khi phát hành bản acid house đầu tiên tại Anh – hai tuyệt phẩm năm ’88: “Voodoo Ray” và “Pacific State”, đồng thời đặt nền móng cho jungle / drum & bass. Gerald Rydel Simpson, được biết đến rộng rãi với nghệ danh A Guy Called Gerald, là nhà sản xuất và nhạc sĩ người Anh. Anh từng là thành viên đầu tiên của nhóm điện tử huyền thoại 808 State, đóng góp vào album Newbuild (1988) và bản hit “Pacific State” (1989).

Live In Session là “một cách mới để trình diễn âm nhạc trực tiếp, dựa trên ý tưởng đặt nghệ sĩ ngay giữa sàn nhảy và ở cùng tầm mắt với khán giả… Tôi muốn tạo ra một không gian mô phỏng phòng thu – và vì tôi đứng chính giữa sàn, tôi có thể quan sát mọi thứ xung quanh, kết nối trực tiếp với người nhảy. Điều này cho phép tôi tạo ra không khí và nhịp điệu phù hợp nhất cho từng sàn nhảy. Giống như một căn bếp mở trong nhà hàng – đây là ‘bếp mở’ của club, nơi âm thanh vừa được tạo ra là lập tức được đưa thẳng lên sàn nhảy.”
