An all abilities ride to celebrate International Women's Day from Nottingham Women's Centre to Highfields park.
About this Event

Join us in celebrating International Women's Day with a gentle and inclusive bike ride to Nottingham University's Highfields Park where we will stop for a cuppa and a snack. We welcome women of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, we ride at the pace of the slowest rider, stop for breaks whenever you want, and promise you will never be alone at the back!

Cycling is a great way to keep active, travel cheaply and efficiently, and enjoy time outdoors. However, women make up only about a quarter of cyclists as a whole in UK: we want to challenge that and show that cycling can be accessible and fun for all!

This ride will be on quiet roads and traffic-free cycle paths. We will go at a very steady pace, with a ride leader guiding the group, and a second guide at the back, so no one will be left behind. The ride will go at the pace of the slowest rider, so is suitable for those that haven't ridden for a while or are still gaining their confidence.

You can bring your own bike, or if you need to borrow one, please contact Emily at Women in Tandem (who are running the ride): [email protected] or 07511502741. Please let us know by Monday 9th March if you need to borrow a bike.

This ride is open to all women and non-binary people. You are welcome to bring your children with you, so long as they can also ride or be transported safely. We have a range of equipment to carry children on bikes, such as trailers and child seats, so let us know if you would like to borrow something.

MEETING POINT: Nottingham Women's Centre

TIME: meet at 12, ready to ride at 12.30.

You won’t need anything fancy, just comfortable weather-appropriate clothing and some enthusiasm for cycling! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help enable you to join this ride, or if you have any questions, please get in touch we would love to hear from you.

This ride is organised by Women in Tandem, a Community Interest Company based in Nottingham that aims to support and empower women to ride bikes. The session is funded by The Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, a charity that makes it possible for everyone to walk, wheel and cycle for the good of our health, our wellbeing, our world.
