A Feast for Freedom: Celebrating 10 Years of the Sing for Freedom Choir
About this Event
Join us for a special evening celebrating ten years of Sing for Freedom Choir, hosted by Sheila Dillon, presenter of BBC Radio 4's The Food Programme.
Bringing together exceptional food, live music and inspiring stories, A Feast for Freedom is a celebration of the creative community that has grown through ten years of singing together.
Celebrated chefs and food writers Meera Sodha, Romy Gill and Alissa Timoshkina will collaborate with Sing for Freedom choir members to prepare a delicious feast inspired by flavours and food traditions from around the world, with more visiting chefs to be announced.
Hosted in the grand and atmospheric setting of Christ Church Highbury, guests will enjoy a generous selection of dishes, served as a shared feast around communal, candle lit tables. Food, music and conversation wil bring us together to acknowledge 10 years of this ambitious project, whilst raising funds to make the next 10 years possible.
The event begins with a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink on arrival, with a selection of wines and beers available to purchase throughout the evening, courtesy of a local independent wine shop.
Come hungry and curious, ready for a uniquely entertaining evening in support of the Sing for Freedom Choir!

Ten years of Sing for Freedom
Founded in 2016 by survivors of torture, Sing for Freedom brings refugees, people seeking sanctuary and local residents together through the joy of singing.
More than a choir, it is a community built on friendship, mutual support and solidarity, where people from different backgrounds come together as equals, sharing their voices, creativity, experiences and strengths.
Its impact reaches far beyond its singers. Through performances, collaborations and sharing its expertise with other choirs, Sing for Freedom inspires audiences and communities, demonstrating how music can overcome differences, build understanding and spread hope and joy.
Sing for Freedom is a programme of Together Productions, a community arts organisation bringing people together through the arts to build connection and inspire positive social change.
Help make the next ten years possible
This special evening is a fundraiser to help secure Sing for Freedom's precarious future.
It costs around £40,000 a year to sustain the choir, providing professional musical leadership, regular rehearsals, performances and practical support for singers who might otherwise be unable to participate.
We hope guests will consider making an additional donation during the evening, or supporting our silent auction.
