A DIVE INTO SEAWEED! Seaweed Pressing & Morrab Archive Workshop

Meeting at The Exchange, this immersive workshop begins with a talk and screening of Abigail Reynolds’ film Flux, currently on show as part of Walking A Cappella at Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange. From here, participants will take part in a guided visit to the Morrab Library with The Seaweed Institute, gaining rare access to the library’s remarkable archive of historic pressed seaweeds. Highlights include viewing exquisite specimens and a copy of local 17th-century seaweed scientist John Stackhouse’s book.

The session then continues to Newlyn Art Gallery where participants will work hands-on with The Seaweed Institute in the studio, learning traditional techniques to create their own seaweed pressings in response to the historic material viewed.
