This immersive guided walk pulls back the curtain on Frome's complex relationship with witchcraft, folklore, and the socio-political panic that gripped England during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
The tour begins at the base of Cheap Street, where the ancient leat—a stone-lined stream running down the center of the road—whispers tales of old superstitions. As we ascend the cobbled paths, our guide, The Haunts co-founder Joseph Ghost, will reanimate the stories of ordinary townspeople who were caught in the crosshairs of fear. You will discover the historical realities of local cunning folk, traditional herbalists, and the devastating societal shifts that suddenly turned neighbors into accusers.
This guided walk will be based upon the research of Emma Poole, The Haunts co-owner and author of 'Rentum Tormentum'.
