A Day at the Park 2026

'A Day at the Park' began 4 years ago, with a small group of friends, coming together in a garage on a regular Tuesday evening. The conversation revolved around the dream of a fun, family event; fostering inclusion, education & awareness of Autism/ Neurodivergency. It's main focus was to be a resource event, supporting the Lawrenceburg-Anderson County neurodivergent community & connecting them to more local or regional organizational resources.
It has turned into so much more. Just since last summer, ADATP has achieved several significant & recognition worthy milestones:
- Non-Profit Status: A Day at the Park is now officially registered as a Kentucky non-profit, ensuring that all charitable contributions received, are tax-deductible.
- Award Recognition: We were honored to be nominated for a "Community Service Excellence Award" on March 8th, at the 2026 Lexington Music Awards.
- Community Impact: Thanks to our 2025 sponsors, we had sufficient funds leftover to work out a deal with The Twisted Chord in Lawrenceburg to purchase & donate a full karaoke setup to Erin’s Hope for Friends. It's now being very happily utilized, weekly & at special events, by their youth and young adult programs.
Autism awareness & acceptance promotes understanding and support for autistic individuals, shifting stigmas, to celebrating differences. It emphasizes creating a neurodiverse-friendly society by providing proper resources, more education to surrounding community members and listening to autistic voices, rather than attempting to "fix" or change them. While awareness acknowledges autism exists, acceptance further promotes inclusion; respecting an autistic individuals' rights to exist or live authentically. It involves dismantling systemic barriers in workplaces, schools, and communities, and ensuring accessibility and accommodations in all spaces.
As we enter our fourth year, our goal is to simply expand our reach by bringing more autism & mental health resources to light in the Lawrenceburg community. We would be really honored to have you join us on June 20th, at A Day at the Park 2026.
