Monthly community knitting circle with artist Linda Litteral contributing to a large-scale collaborative art installation.
About this Event

Join artist Linda Litteral for a monthly community knitting circle contributing to Remember, a large-scale art installation honoring those who have experienced sexual trauma.

No prior knitting experience is required— participants are welcome to learn how to knit while taking part in a meaningful, collective artwork. All supplies are provided.

Remember will be presented at Grossmont College in early 2027 and will feature hundreds of hand-knitted, streaming banners— with each stitch honoring an individual impacted by sexual violence. Through this immersive installation and community participation, the project seeks to foster awareness, remembrance, and solidarity through the quiet, powerful act of making.

Contributors to the project will be acknowledged in the exhibition catalog. Whether you join once or return each month, your participation helps bring this important installation to life.

*******************************************

Linda Litteral is a multi-faceted artist working alternately with ceramics, bronze cast and clay sculpture, oil and acrylic paint on canvas, pen and pencil on paper, wood, and three-dimensional mixed media sculpture.

Earning her MFA from San Diego State University (SDSU), Linda's thesis was an exploration of art as a way to expose and heal childhood abuse. Past teaching experience includes SDSU, Mesa, Miramar, Grossmont, and Southwestern Colleges. Linda has taught healing-arts classes to inmates at Las Colinas Detention Center, East Mesa Detention Center, and Donovan State Pr*son. Recently, she facilitated a similar class at New York City’s prestigious Bluestocking’s Bookstore.

She is a member of Allied Craftsman and emeritus director of the Feminist Image Group.

This free workshop is provided by Space 4 Art and sponsored by The Prebys Foundation. The Arts Ecosystem grant aims to bring more art funding to the San Diego Art Economy. The grant is part of the Prebys Foundation’s 2025 Emergency Arts Investment, which responds to significant challenges facing the region’s arts sector, including federal and state funding cuts, rising operational costs, and the need to preserve vital community spaces for creativity.

By enrolling in this class, you acknowledge and agree that photos and video may be taken during the event. These materials may be used by the organizers for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes.
