About this Event

Norway House is pleased to welcome Don Pugnetti Jr. to talk about Nazi Germany's occupation of Norway during World War II and his book, A Coat Dyed Black: A Novel of the Norwegian Resistance.

His historical novel is based on true events and real experiences of resistance fighters who he interviewed in past years and chronicled their courageous stand against Nazi tyranny. He has done extensive research on the war years in Norway. Many of the people he interviewed did not see themelves as heros. They simply did what they felt they must do. They also felt a strong need, still, to remain anonymous.

Don lives in the Washington state community of Gig Harbor. He was a long-time newspaper reporter and editor and also served as a policy advisor, strategist and speech writer for a state elected official. He has taught writing and communications courses as a visiting professor at the University of North Florida and as an adjunct instructor at Pacific Lutheran University. Don has been a contributing writer for The Norwegian American.

Karen Himle, who has served as host for TPT Minnesota Channel programs on a variety of topics, will interview Don in this conversational and informative talk.

Copies of A Coat Dyed Black will be available for sale and for signing.

This event is free, but an RSVP is appreciated.
