Kris Habermehl is an award-winning journalist, reporter, pilot, historian, lecturer and lifelong boat nerd. Flying over Chicago for more than three decades, reporting on traffic and spot news for CBS TV station WBBM, Kris also uses his aviation background as the longtime WBBM Radio voice of the Chicago Air & Water Show.
Kris grew up in Chicago and its northern and western suburbs; however, the last two decades have been spent living on farmland south of Rockford, where Kris serves as a lieutenant and former training officer on a rural volunteer fire department.
Appearing in the documentaries, "Heroes on Deck, World War Two on Lake Michigan," and "City at War, Chicago," Kris believes wholeheartedly in preserving the rich maritime history of Chicago. He also proudly serves on the board of the Glenview Hangar One Foundation.
Kris can be seen weekdays on the CBS Chicago Morning Show, reporting from the station's helicopter, known as "Skywatch."
