A Christmas Royal Tea

Come celebrate the holiday season with a one-of-a kind Christmas Royal Tea at the historic Science Hill / Wakefield Scearce Gallery. Conveniently nestled in downtown Shelbyville, Kentucky, Wakefield Scearce holds one of the largest collections of English antiques. Join us at 12:30 pm in the enclosed courtyard and enjoy spiritless champagne while browsing the silent auction items that would make great gifts for someone on your holiday shopping list. Or if you prefer, relax in the courtyard to enjoy the ambiance and holiday melodies being played on the piano.

Teas will be served promptly at 1:00 pm in the Georgian Room of Science Hill. Choose from a selection of vintage teacups to sip the specially crafted teas and indulge with a traditional three-tiered tray that includes a variety of delicious tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream & jam along with a variety of tasty holiday sweets.

Not familiar with afternoon teas or etiquette? No problem... Lisa Board with Lisa's Elegant Life will provide a brief overview on the history and etiquette of English tea services. You will also be enlightened with a short history lesson of this beautiful landmark that was once an all-girls school.

*Guests will be seated together to fill tables of 6 or 8. All general tickets purchased on the same order will be seated together. If you would like to be seated with others who purchased tickets on a different order, please give their name when purchasing tickets or contact Kimberly at [email protected]

If you prefer a more intimate two-person only seating arrangement, there are a limited number of tables available and ticket pricing includes two tickets at your own table.

Each room of the gallery is carefully curated and elegantly decorated with Christmas trimmings to put you into the holiday spirit. Items are for purchase throughout the gallery and in the shops, so plan to arrive early to give yourself plenty of time to visit all the rooms and shops before our event begins. Science Hill provides a beautiful backdrop for photos during this time of year so make sure to capture yourself in front of these elegant displays. This is a holiday event and festive hats and fascinators are encouraged to be worn, but not required.

Following your meal, a free guided tour through the gallery will be available for anyone wishing to learn more about the history. Silent auction bidding will close at 3:30 pm and winners will be announced at that time. The gallery and shops will close at 4:00 pm. This is a fundraising event for the community and a portion of the profits will go to support addiction recovery programs for Shelby County.
