Peter Tabuns, MPP Toronto-Danforth
Rachel McMillan, Best Selling Author,
Julie Dabrusin, MP Toronto-Danforth
Ron McKay, Chair of EEURM Council
Ryan Galloway, Nourish East End
Proceeds to benefit: Nourish East End (https://nourisheastend.ca), Out of the Cold (https://www.eastendunited.ca/out-of-the-cold.html) and the work of East End Regional Ministry (https://www.eastendunited.ca).
East End United has chosen “God bless us…EVERYONE!” as its theme for the Advent/Christmas season because of “A Christmas Carol’s” (sadly) still relevant themes of indifference towards those experiencing poverty. But what’s also relevant is the ever present promise that hearts can be changed. 181 years since the first publication of “A Christmas Carol, it often seems we are little closer to creating a society where everybody has what they need to not only survive, but thrive. But we can, if there is the will to change things.
In addition to the performance, there will be an opportunity to learn more about East End United as a congregation, as well as our outreach work with Nourish East End (weekly food bank market and community dinners) and Out of the Cold (weekly meal and overnights)…and how we hope to see a day where these outreach services are no longer needed.
