A Chor Leoni night in Yaletown

Hey everyone,
If you’re coming to the first Let’s Hear It for Yaletown! swing dance on Tuesday, July 28, there’s a perfect follow-up just two blocks away!
The choir I sing in, Chor Leoni, is putting on a free outdoor concert in Helmcken Plaza (on Helmcken between Mainland and Hamilton), starting at 8:00 pm—half an hour after the dance ends. It’s designed as a summer street party, with three short sets of music and relaxed breaks in between, so you can come and go as you like.
We’ll be singing everything from Bridge Over Troubled Water, Hallelujah, and Mr. Blue Sky to God Only Knows, Sweet Caroline, Dancing in the Street, and my own arrangement of I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles). There’ll be food and drinks available from nearby restaurants opening onto the plaza (and you can BYO). The whole event is meant to be casual, festive, and interactive.
I’d love to see some familiar swing faces in the audience! If you’re already in Yaletown for dancing, it’s an easy walk over afterward, and it should make for a really fun summer evening. (Or come even if you don’t make the dance!)
