An Evening of Cool Jazz in Downtown Yakima presented by Yakima Federal Savings & Loan
Smooth sounds, timeless melodies, and some of the Yakima Valley's finest jazz musicians all coming together for one unforgettable evening!
Once described as "James Dean, Sinatra, and Bix all rolled into one," Chet Baker was the personification of West Coast cool jazz. His velvet voice, brilliant trumpet playing, and movie-star good looks helped him top the charts and break hearts.
For one special night, The Seasons Music Project brings together an incredible lineup of local jazz musicians to celebrate Baker's legendary music while paying tribute to Yakima's very own Doug Ramsey, a respected jazz writer and advocate whose contributions to the world of jazz deserve to be celebrated.
So put on something nice, bring a friend, and treat yourself to a relaxed evening of cool jazz in the heart of Downtown Yakima!
THE EVENING'S LINEUP
Jeremy Erickson | Vocals
A familiar voice in the Mid-Columbia Master Singers and musical theater, Richland's Jeremy Erickson brings an extraordinary four-octave range and relaxed delivery perfectly suited to Chet Baker's smooth vocal style.
Chris Bruya | Trumpet
After leading Central Washington University's jazz program for more than 20 years, Chris has become a legendary musician in the Yakima Valley. His beautiful tone and musical sensitivity capture the passion and restraint of Baker, famously known as The Prince of Cool.
Ben Macy | Piano
Described by Willamette Week as "coolly rippling and deeply reflective," Ben brings more than 25 years of performing experience throughout the Northwest. A passionate supporter of live jazz, he's helped create music series at J Bell Cellars, the Princess Theatre, and other regional venues.
Jeff Norwood | Bass
A full-time music educator at Yakima Valley College and accomplished performer, Jeff brings a rock-solid rhythm and musical versatility shaped by years of performing everything from tango and salsa to jazz.
Don Kinney | Drums
A seasoned percussionist and sought-after jazz drummer, Don has performed with symphonies and jazz ensembles throughout his career. His relaxed swing and more than 20 years of musical collaboration with Ben Macy promise to make this a special evening.
