Join Chefs Andrea Baumgardner, Avalon Hoff and the 701 eateries team for this wonderful night! In celebration of International Women’s Day, a menu inspired by seven immigrant women who introduced their native culture and cuisine to America through their teaching, cookbooks, restaurants, and writing. Less known in popular culture today, their contributions have added flavors and ingredients that are part of our daily meals. We leaned heavily on Mayukh Sen’s book highlighting their fascinating lives, Taste Makers: Seven Immigrant Women Who Revolutionized Food in America, and the works of each chef.
Courses:
1: salmon belly dumpling, citrus butter + pecorino
Chinese mushroom spring roll, soy + chile dipping sauce (v)
2: Persian cucumber, citrus, olive, + pomegranate salad, strained yogurt with pickled shallot, + turmeric oil (v, gf)
3: cumin + chickpea-battered fish or vegetable fritter, callaloo, + sweet tomato relish (v*, gf)
4: Roman-style lamb or spring vegetable ragout, pommes Anna, and French herb sauce (v*, gf)
5: carrot + cardamom pudding, Italian cookie plate (v, gf without cookies)
