Let love stop you in your tracks… lit-erally… in front of the Great Barn, Ruislip. Our ‘Celebration of Love Stories’ event is back for its second year with three amazing authors who will share insights in to their respective books which is about love in all its forms, from romantic love to family bonds.
Isabelle Broom – The Orange House Henry and Violet first met in the garden of The Orange House on the beautiful island of Mallorca. They promised their lives to each other, poured their love into restoring the house and built the foundations of their marriage within its walls. First it was their private idyll, then a place to escape with their son, Luke - but now it has become a battleground. As the years have passed, cracks have appeared and secrets have built barriers between them. Finally, on the brink of divorce, they have come back to Mallorca to sell up. Will this final summer together be the end - or a new beginning? Twenty years ago, The Orange House brought them together. Now, will it be reason they part?
Holly Miller – The Spark “People kept telling me it was impossible that, aged eighteen, I’d found the person I wanted to spend my life with. And yet, here we were.” Childhood sweethearts Neve and Jamie are inseparable from the moment they meet. Everyone knows they’ll be together forever – that is, until tragedy strikes, and Jamie is torn from Neve’s life. One street away, Ash is hit by lightning. As he recovers, family members notice a drastic change in Ash, almost as though he is a different person. Years later, chance brings Neve and Ash together- and she is struck by his familiarity. He shares so many traits with Jamie, as if their souls are entwined. Neve must ask herself whether she can love for a second time in the face of her grief. Is she ready for what life has to offer? And can lightning really strike twice?
Eva Verde – In Bloom A deeply affecting novel, In Bloom tells of strength, survival, forgiveness, resilience and determination, and the fierce love and unbreakable bonds between mothers and daughters. Delph has kept herself small and quiet as a form of self-protection, ever since the love of her life Sol’s untimely death left her pregnant and alone at the age of twenty-four. Theirs was such a once-in-a-lifetime love, that the loss of her soulmate broke her heart ‒ and almost broke her, too. Years on, Delph’s protective bubble bursts when her daughter Roche moves out of the flat Delph shares with her partner Itsy and in with her estranged nan, Moon. Now that it’s just the two of them, the cracks in Delph and Itsy’s relationship begin to grow. Feeling on the outside of the bond between her fierce-yet-flaky tarot-reading mother and volatile martial-arts-champion daughter, Delph begins questioning her own freedom. Is her life with Itsy all it seems? And has keeping small and safe truly been her choice all these years…?
