Doors open @ 6pm, presentation starts at 6:30pm
Abandoned Building Brewery

- How far do the birds we see in the Northeast migrate?
- Why do some birds make such difficult migratory journeys (e.g., flying three days nonstop over the western Atlantic Ocean)?
- What do birds do when they run into storms while they’re migrating?
- What can I do to contribute to the science and conservation of migratory birds?
Professor Ted Gilliland is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Mount Holyoke College and a natural resource economist. His research focuses on natural resource management and conservation. To carry out this work, Ted combines theory and empirical techniques from economics, ecology, and natural history. He teaches courses in the economics department on environmental and natural resource economics and econometrics. In addition, Ted teaches a first-year seminar on bird migration and bird conservation, and is a member of the Massachusetts Avian Records Committee.
Bring a friend and join us as we enjoy lively conversations, prizes, and brilliant minds. Light refreshments will be available outside the presentation room, first come, first served.
ABB allows guests to bring outside food into the establishment: please feel free to bring food if you’d like to!
This is an inclusive, family-friendly event for people from all walks of life (ALL are very much welcome: kids, college students, your parents!). We promise, you'll learn something if you come. And hey, you might even win a prize! Remember... Admission is FREE!
