Welcome to A Big Black Queer BBQ!

Come join us for a day filled with delicious food, great music, and amazing vibes at Fox Hills Park. This event is all about celebrating the Black and Queer communities coming together to enjoy some tasty BBQ and connect with one another.

Bring: Blankets, lawn chairs, your choice of non-alcoholic beverages**, favorite games, your favorite snacks and/or grillable food items.

Who: This event is by and for people who are Black and queer. Of course, since this is being held at a public park, we cannot “deny” anyone entry. However, the purpose of this event is to provide a safe space for Black queer, trans, and NB people.

How (Parking/Transportation): Since it’s a Saturday, parking is available, but will be first-come first served. There are disabled parking spaces available. It’s also not too far from a small shopping center with parking. This location is also accessible by bus. As always, you can use ride share!

Why: September 21st marks the Fall Equinox, indicating the official end of summer. Season transitions are great time for celebration, reflection, and initiating change. It’s also a great Earth, Wind, and Fire reference.

*BYO-meat if you are vegan/vegetarian; there will be charcoal and utensils available for you to grill.

**We are not permitted to bring alcohol, according to the park permit. Coolers with ice will be present for chilling drinks. If you want to 🍃 💨, the less dank variety is encouraged.
