About this Event
"A part of the world we want to live in is already within us." ~adrienne maree brown
"There has been a lot going on," is an understatement to what has been unfolding. This event came to be upon Ysrael having an aha-moment before turning 26 on 8/18/25; bringing things that he loves and enjoys altogether: music, friends, musician colleagues, comrades in the movement, and stories.
With his friend Julian’s encouragement and commitment to do this birthday benefit concert with him, Ysrael went on and produced this event! Our hope in hosting this benefit concert is to:
(1) bring together people who are actively working to build belonging and lessen othering in their local communities;
(2) deepen your knowledge and experience on immigrant & human rights through music and stories about CIYJA as a vehicle for immigrant and social justice, who's working alongside the ACLU SoCal, Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, Immigrant Legal Resource Center, the Dignity Not Detention Coalition, and more;
(3) financially support immigrant youth's leadership development in the Central Valley and Inland Empire who are facing impending deportations, detention, heightened and under-broadcasted ICE raids.
(4) help send CIYJA staff and youth to Encuentro Por La Dignidad: Convergence to Reclaim Our Power Pilgrimage (a powerful weekend in the Central Valley focused on raising awareness and ending the harms of immigration detention).
Free Event. No one turned away for lack of funds. Donations are encouraged.
All proceeds will go to California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance's youth scholarship and internship programs + staff and youth travels to Encuentro.
