Solo Chess Tournament:
Theme
"Prepare for the ultimate test of strategic prowess in our solo chess event! Unleash your inner grandmaster as you navigate the battlefield of the 64 squares alone. No teammates, no distractions—just you, your cunning, and the thrill of outmaneuvering your opponents. Are you ready to make every move count and claim victory as the sole mastermind of the board? Join us and prove your chess supremacy!"
Categories
- Junior: Class 1-10
- Senior: Class 11 - University 4th Year
Time Format
Blitz Chess: 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment
Rules
1. FIDE rules will be strictly followed.
2. Each player will have 3 minutes at the starting of the game, with an additional 2 seconds added per move.
3. Touch-move rule applies: If a player touches a piece, they must move it if it's a legal move.
4. No assistance from chess engines or books during a game.
5. Junior and Senior categories will have separate tournaments.
6. The tournament will consist of 6-8 rounds depending on the situation.
Participation & Fees
- Entry Fee: 200\- per participant.
- Food: Lunch will be provided.
- Certificates: All participants will receive a participation certificate.
Prizes
Top 3 winners from each category will receive crests, certificates and prize money.
Chess960 Solo Mastery
Theme
"Embrace the Unpredictable: Master the Randomness of Chess960"
Category
Open: Class 1 - University 4th Year
Time Format
Blitz Chess: 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment
Rules
1. FIDE Chess960 rules will be strictly followed.
2. Open to individual players from Class 1 to University 4th Year.
3. Starting positions of pieces on the players' home ranks will be randomly determined.
4. Each player will have 3 minutes at the starting of the game, with an additional 2 seconds added per move.
5. Touch-move rule applies: If a player touches a piece, they must move it if it's a legal move.
6. No assistance from chess engines or books during a game..
7. The tournament will consist of 5 rounds..
Prizes
-Top 3 winners from each category will receive crests, certificates.
-Every participant will get a participation certificate.

Chess960, also known as Fischer Random Chess, brings a fresh twist to the traditional game by randomising the starting positions of the pieces. This format challenges players to rely on their creativity and adaptability. Prepare for a chess experience like no other and join us for the Chess960 Solo Mastery tournament!

- Junior: Class 1-10
- Senior: Class 11 - University 4th Year
Rules
1.These are solo and written events.
2.During the competitions mobile phones must be switched off.
3.There will be 30 minutes for each of the events.
Participation & Fees
- Entry Fee: 100\- (By paying 100\- you will be able to participate in these 4 segments).
- Certificates: Participation certificates will be awarded to all participants.
Prizes
Top 3 participants from each category and each segment will receive prizes and certificates.
Meme Contest

Rules
1. One can submit more than one meme.
2. The meme must be unique and original. The meme has to be in either English or Bangla language.
3. Participant have to join https://www.facebook.com/share/gJZVxet6PtaZ6rUy/ group and post the meme in the group using #ndcc_meme_contest & #9thNationalChessCarnival hashtag and have to share the post in his/her profile publicly.
4. You can invite your friends in the group to react to your post. Reactions will have an impact in choosing the winner.
Participation & Fees
No need for any registration and participation fee. Just join the group and post memes using the hashtag.

Team Chess Tournament:
Theme
"Unite and Conquer: The Chessboard Awaits Your Team's Mastery"
Category
Open: Class 1 - University 4th Year
Time Format
Blitz Chess: 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment
Rules
1. FIDE rules for chess competitions will be strictly followed.
2. Each team must consist of 4 players: 3 players from the same institution and 1 player can be from a different institution.
3. Each player will have 3 minutes at the starting of the game, with an additional 2 seconds added per move.
4. Touch-move rule applies: If a player touches a piece, they must move it if it's a legal move.
5. No assistance from chess engines or books.
6. Team members must alternate moves without consulting each other.
7. The tournament will consist of 6-8 rounds depending on the situation.
Participation & Fees
- Entry Fee: 800\- per team
- Food: Lunch will be provided.
- Certificates: All participants will receive a participation certificate.
Top 3 teams will get prize money and prizes.

Chess Memoirs: Scrapbook Duo Challenge
Theme
"Capturing Chess: A Journey in Scrapbook Pages"
Team Composition
Duo Teams: 2 Members per Team

1. Each team must consist of 2 members.
2. The Scrapbook must be chess-themed, capturing the essence of the game through creative expression.
3. The content can include photographs, illustrations, stories, and personal reflections on chess.
4. The Scrapbook should tell a story or convey a message about the impact of chess on culture, strategy, or personal growth.
5. Teams are encouraged to use a variety of materials and textures to enhance their scrapbook pages.
6. All submissions must be made by the specified Thursday deadline.

Puzzle Relay:
Theme: As regular chess puzzles have become boring, we added a little spice to it. Train your legs along with your brain
Category: Open
Team Composition
Trio Teams: 3 Members per Team. Max Cap 28 Teams
Rules:
1. The teams will be divided into 4 groups, the top 2 teams from each group will participate in the final phase for pandemonium.
2. Players will be placed at the starting line with a baton. Players from each group have to sprint to the designated rooms in sequence and solve the given puzzles under allotted time.
(bullet point) Suppose, Team XYZ consists of Player 1, 2 and 3. Player-1 will quickly solve the puzzles in room-1 and come back to the starting line to pass the baton to the 2nd player. The 2nd player would also pass it back to player 3 after solving the puzzles in room-2. The 3rd player will take the baton to the finish line after doing the same.
3. Points will be given based on the time and correctly solved puzzles.
>Quickest team will get 7 points, 2nd team 6 points and so on in a descending* order.
>1 point for each correctly solved puzzle(at least 2 puzzles needed to be solved correctly)
4. After 2 rounds, the teams will be ranked based on points. The top 2 teams from each group will advance to the final phase.
5. The advanced 8 teams will compete in the final round to decide the champions.

- Food: Refreshments will be provided.
- Certificates: All participants will receive a participation certificate.

Piece Hunter: Knights Quest
Theme
"Embark on a thrilling quest across our college campus in the Piece Huntert! Pieces are scattered far and wide, and it's your mission to track them down. With strategy and speed, collect as many pieces as you can between 4:30 and 5:30 PM on Saturday, 31st August 2024. Each piece brings you closer to victory in this exciting chess adventure. Can you find them all and outsmart your fellow competitors? Join us for a fun-filled chase and prove your chess prowess!"
Category- Open
Rules
1. Teams of 2 players each will participate.
2. Participants must find as many chess pieces as possible scattered across the campus.
3. Instead of taking the pieces, participants must take pictures of them in their original locations.
4. Each piece will have a unique code that participants must record in the pictures.
5. Pieces can be collected in any order.
6. The hunt will start promptly at 4:30 PM and end at 5:30 PM.(Time can be changed.)
7. Participants must return to the starting point by 5:30 PM to submit their pictures.
8. The use of any form of transport (cycles,bikes, cars, etc.) is prohibited; the hunt must be done on foot.
9. Collaborating with other teams is not allowed; this is a competitive event.
10. The team with the most unique chess piece pictures found wins.
11. Do not share your findings with others before the event ends to ensure fair play.
12. Any form of cheating or breaking rules will result in disqualification.
