Comedy for Camp and S'MORE is a casual, fun-filled evening of gift card grabs, silent and live auctions, clean comedy, and of course lots of laughs!
THE CAUSE: Soroptimist International of Joplin's largest service project is a week-long annual summer camp for foster children -- Camp Soroptimist. For more than 40 years, Soroptimist members have planned all the camp activities and work in conjunction with the Department of Social Services to identify foster children between the ages of 8 and 14 who could benefit from the experience. Many of the children comment that it is the most fun thing they do all summer and look forward to coming back!
That's not all... there's S'MORE! Soroptimist International of Joplin also provides local women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment. They do this through the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards and Dream It, Be It, Career Support for Girls.
Soroptimist's Live Your Dream Awards program is a unique education award for women who provide the primary financial support for their families. The Live Your Dream Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. Live Your Dream Awards recipients may use the club's cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, such as books, childcare, tuition and transportation.
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls gives girls the tools they need to achieve their education and career goals, empowering them to break cycles of poverty, violence, and abuse. Soroptimists work in partnership with girls in a conference setting to provide them with the information and resources they want and need to be successful.

KAREN MORGAN was born and raised in Athens, Georgia, but now calls Maine home. She has two Dry Bar Comedy Specials: Rub Some Dirt On It (2023 -- Named #4 in Dry Bar Comedy’s Top 10 Clips of 2023) and Go Dawgs! (2020). Karen was also recently featured on The Talk on CBS. She can be heard on Sirius XM Radio and other audio streaming platforms. Her latest audio album, Shiny Happy People Laughing, can be heard exclusively on Sirius XM Radio on Pure, Jeff & Larry's Comedy Roundup, Raw and She's So Funny channels. Still licensed to practice law in Maine and Georgia, she lives in Cumberland, Maine, where she is an avid open water swimmer and is cold most of the year. She enjoys traveling for shows, especially to places that have a Waffle House. Lucky for her, Joplin has one!
