What is Nail Board Standing?

Sadhu Board is a traditional practice of standing on a board with sharp metal nails.

It originated centuries ago in India as part of yogic and ascetic disciplines used by sadhus (monks) to train the mind and control the body.

Standing on a Sadhu Board is considered a powerful spiritual practice because it places the mind in a state where it cannot escape or distract itself. The sharp sensation forces complete presence. I discovered the Sadhu board in 2019. And honestly, it feels like I didn’t find it… the nails found me.

At that time, I was at the lowest point of my life. The practice didn’t just support me — it pulled me out. Through standing on the nails, I began observing my life from the outside. I started noticing myself, watching how my mind works, how much of it is just habit, how it controls my decisions and my whole life based on fears and old programs that weren’t even mine.

This practice brought me back into my body in a very powerful way. Layer by layer, like peeling an onion, I began removing everything that wasn’t truly me. And slowly, I started meeting myself again.

Beyond being a deep spiritual tool, the Sadhu board is also physically beneficial — it activates thousands of nerve endings in the feet, improving circulation, grounding, and overall well-being.

For me, it’s one of the most powerful instruments for self-work, self-transformation, and strengthening my character. It helps me return to my center, reconnect with my inner truth, and shape the person I choose to become.
