** This event is open to the public and free to attend -- however, standing space is very limited, so we are offering table reservations in the Lounge (Tickets will be available for online purchase beginning Tuesday, April 8th at https://skb.social/jazz ) **Come join us on Tuesday, April 22nd for a LIVE Jazz broadcast on WDCB Radio! The Joe Policastro Trio will be performing in the Lounge at Skeleton Key and WDCB will be broadcasting it over the airwaves on 90.9FM from 7 to 8pm, with an additional set of music from 8:15 to 9pm.
While this show is free to attend, there is only VERY limited standing room available in the Lounge on a first-come, first-served basis. You can, however, reserve seating for this one-time event for $12 per person (full tables available, too!), and you can choose where you want to sit when you reserve your seats in advance.
Please note: this event is 21+, and seating for the broadcast will begin at 6:15pm. We ask that guests arrive on time and be respectful of the show as we will be broadcasting LIVE over the radio!
The Joe Policastro Trio is hailed by Downbeat for its “deft analysis of choice repertoire,” and by the Chicago Reader for its “diversity of approaches to all kinds of source material,”
The Chicago-based jazz trio is led by bassist Joe Policastro featuring guitarist Dave Miller and drummer Mikel Avery. While firmly rooted in jazz, the band’s open-minded, inclusive nature draws upon a wide array of musical styles and sources while still keeping the aesthetic of an acoustic trio intact.
True bands are a rarity in jazz these days, especially ones hone their craft as consistently as this one does. The band held court thrice-weekly at Pops for Champagne in downtown Chicago for over a decade. Beyond Chicago, the trio has been extensively
playing together at clubs and festivals throughout the US and Canada having even performed for President Barack Obama.
