Dear friends:The 9th International Conference on Contemporary Religious Architecture, to be held November 20-22, 2025 at San Juan, Puerto Rico, on the theme «Sacred Architecture of Canonical Modernity», is already underway.
Contrary to what it might seem, religious buildings occupied a prominent place in the avant-garde, even during the heroic period of the development of Modernity. The IX edition of the CIARC, will be devoted to the study of canonical modern sacred architecture, that is, architecture built between 1925 and 1975.
Each author should focus on the analysis of a single building dedicated to worship that is included in this historical period. Systematic territorial analyses may also be accepted, especially in those regions where this type of study has not yet been carried out.
We seek personal or collective stories that revolve around architectural works that, at the time, reflected the feelings of a community, the artistic vision of an architect or the theological perspective of a religious denomination; works that we have the duty to know and preserve for future generations.
